Visit the "Blue coast" Calanques and the Frioul archipelago Morning

Departing from the Old Port, enjoy a cruise to discover the Calanques of the Côte Bleue and the Frioul archipelago.

This visit will take you across the northern harbor of Marseille to reach the Calanques of the Côte Bleue.

You will have the opportunity to admire the 19th century port that bears witness to the golden age of Marseille. This district, called Euromediterranée, has undergone major transformations symbolized by the CMA-CGM tower.

The exploration of the Côte Bleue begins with the port of l’Estaque which has inspired many painters, Monticelli, Cezanne, Dufy, Braque … These artists developed the beginnings of Cubism here.

This rocky coastline dominated by limestone cliffs takes its name from the beauty of its clear blue waters. Its charming and discreet coves invite you to calm and contemplation, a moment of electric navigation.

We will stop in one of the coves to swim and admire this Mediterranean environment which alternates between wilderness and small ports overlooked by little cabanons (fishermen cabans).

We will continue this cruise towards the Frioul archipelago. Composed of 4 islands, Pomègues, Ratonneau, If and Tiboulèn. They belong to the adjacent Calanques National Park area. These islands have an arid and windy microclimate with its flora and fauna. This tormented relief reveals creeks, sandy coves and rocky peaks. This natural heritage is intimately linked to the history of Marseille. We will take the time to evoke its rich past: port quarantine with the Caroline Hospital, the “Alcatraz of Marseille » with the Chateau d’If, before our return to the Old Port.
